After having to cancel a long weekend boat trip we decided to do a quick overnight in Florence Oregon. And what a great time it was!
This little town boast beautiful views of the river and dunes, has great shopping, restaurants and stays, and should not be missed for. couples or family fun.
On the way into town from Hwy 126 you will find Jawsome Kids Resale on the right. This is our first stop as they have great finds and deals for kids' resale clothing and toys. Clean, well-organized and super nice people, we always find something good for the grandkids!
We stayed in old town at the River House Inn as the summer rates and availability were better compared to Driftwood Shores this time of year. We tried to do an early check-in at 2pm and were told we could for a $25 fee but instead opted for 3pm for free. Check-in was smooth and easy. We chose one of several river view rooms. They are a bit more expensive but worth the cost.
Rooms are small but well-appointed with mini fridge, coffee pot, nice linens, comfortable beds, continental breakfast and patio with fantastic view. And It's an easy 2 min walk into Old Town to enjoy shopping and restaurants.
The only downfall of this hotel is noise from traffic on the bridge can be quite loud if you choose to have the patio door open.
Nosh Eatery is one of our favorite places to have lunch or dinner in Florence. Really clean fresh wonderful food and a small, lovely atmosphere. Because of its size it can be a bit of a wait but worth it. We made dinner reservations when we arrived in town for 5pm. It was slow when we arrived at the restaurant but packed by the time we left so reservations are a good idea.
Chris had the fish and chips, and I had the vegetable roll. We started with the calamari; all were really good as was the service.
After dinner we found the cutest store in old town that we had not been to before. Books, journals, stickers and whatnots all beautifully displayed. The owner was darling and so much fun to talk to. Each purchase is bagged and tied with velvet ribbon and a brass bell. It's a must see on your next trip.
After a restful sleep we took the quick walk to River Roasters for the best cup of coffee! If you happen to visit in the fall, make sure to try their pumpkin spice latte!! It's made with real puree, and I have never found one better. Took it back to room and to watch the water and enjoy a relaxing morning.
Last a stop at The Brown Hen Cafe for the best breakfast anywhere! The food is perfect every time, even those crispy hashbrowns! Dreamy eggs bene, really the whole menu is amazing and the staff is fantastic! It's a never miss for us!
Another fun night in Florence, cannot wait to go back!
