Camping on the Applegate River

Camping in the Oregon springtime can be quite the weather adventure, so on an off weekend we decided to find a place in the sun. After searching weather apps the winner seemed to be Jacksonville Oregon. We have been to Jacksonville previously to attend concerts at the Britt Festival Pavilion. If you have not been to a concert there you should. They have an amazing venue. We stayed at the Jacksonville Inn which is historic and well appointed. They also have a fantastic restaurant that will make a picnic to go for the concert.

But this trip we were taking our new Pop-up Camper so we were in search of a campsite. Jackson Campground on the Applegate was wonderful. Being mid-week and early in the season, we had the whole place to ourselves!

The camp host was great, directed us to the best spot in the campground! The park itself caters to tent campers, having only 3 RV spots. But because we had the pop-up he allowed us to camp in a tent spot just steps from the Applegate River! The setting was beautiful.

The campground is 24 minutes from the town of Jacksonville with many beautiful sights along the way making for a great day trip. Shopping, dining and supplies are all available in the historic town.

Back at the campground you will find a nice bathroom with flush toilets, potable water, and picnic tables. The beauty of the area is at its best next to the river...Let's go!
